Paper Town Classic Circuit Race will be the first USAC sanctioned road race held in Longview, Wa in over a decade. It is representative of the resurgence in racing interest across the Pacific Northwest.
The race will be held at Willow Grove. Willow Grove is a small peninsula bordered by the Columbia River and Coal Creek Slough. But forget the “sandy” beaches, boat launch, and farms that call the peninsula home, the most important part of Willow Grove is its perfect tarmac.
The Paper Town Classic is a flat, unsuspecting 6-mile loop that circles Willow Grove. With a grand total of 6 corners, the loop will not be technically challenging. Instead, it will force riders to decide if they want to risk it in a break away and fight the wind or conserve energy in the peloton and rely on their sprinting ability.
Winning the Paper Town Classic won’t be easy but may the cream rise to the top and champions be crowned.
